A Ural, for those who don’t know, is basically a war era BMW with powered sidecar wheel - as copied by the Russkis. I believe the Nazi sidecar rig in Indiana Jones playing the part of a BMW was actually a Ural, but I could be mistaken. Anyway, they’re still in production.

there is a clutch that connect the side car to the bike wheel. no diff. its either locked or un-powered.

There *are* front wheel-powered motorcycles out there, but they’re very rare because you have to design a drive system that won’t torque the wheel back and forth. That’s harder than it sounds, and the drive system has to take up a lot of space regardless. The most well known example is probably the Rokon:
For most purposes, it’s just not worth it to build a power takeoff drive running through the upper frame and a whole separate gearbox and drive in the fork.

other than the one pictured which I knew about (my friends dads had a non runner in the garage) I haven’t ever heard of others.

Having a good normal bike setup (or one like the Ural) is kind of like having a really good 2WD prerunner truck - if your weight balance is good, it’s not too much trouble on a good trail or road to push a lightly loaded unpowered wheel as opposed to a heavy powered one. It’s quick, treads lightly, and you never get so stuck that you can’t get out with a little work. Add in the weight shift possible on a bike and it’s almost never ever useful to have front wheel power. Unless you’re insane and going into a bog or woods where no trail of any kind exists and you don’t mind going 10mph as long as you get there. Then you get a Rokon.
